The Dying God figure can be an example of duality. Osiris is murdered, but his “planting” in the earth results in grain. Dionysos is “cooked” by the Titans, but he is reborn as a fertility god. Jesus is crucified, but is resurrected as what Christians call the “bread of life.” Baldr is destroyed by Loki, but will return after Ragnarok to reestablish creation.

The sacred twins sometimes “explain” duality. The twin children of the Iroquoian Earth Mother represent the good and evil inherent in creation. Romulus and Remus perhaps represent the same conflict.
