How does psychology use myths?

Two of the founders of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud (1856–1939) and Carl Jung (1875–1961) were in their own ways involved with mythology. They both were concerned with the psychological meaning and the use of myths in their work, and both were responsible for certain psychological myths that remain to this day elements of our cultural vocabulary.
