How is myth used in politics? |
Hitler used Germanic myths to justify actions of his Nazi party. A more benign example of the political use of myth is the general connection made by the press and politicians between the John F. Kennedy administration and King Arthur’s Camelot. The young and handsome Kennedy with his beautiful family were Arthur and Guinevere. The young people and the hope that surrounded his presidency were reminiscent to the public of the Round Table and its aura.
