Norse MythologyThe Norse Creation Myth and Wars in Heaven |
Was there a Norse flood myth? |
After the first gods killed the great frost giant Ymir and made the world out of him, his spilled blood drowned all the other frost giants except for Bergelmir and his wife, who used a boat made out of a hollowed tree trunk to escape the deluge. The similarity of parts of this flood myth to those of other cultures, such as the Sumerians and the Hebrews, suggests a possible common source.
