What are the Brahmanas? |
The Brahmanas are commentaries associated with the four original Vedas. They tend to be particularly concerned with the proper use and performance of rituals, and they tend to be more dogmatic than are the Vedas. The dogmatism of the Brahmanas is in contrast to the Rigveda, for instance, which describes the origins of the universe and other aspects of creation with a note of uncertainty.
