Why are the Eleusinian and Dionysian mysteries called “mysteries”?

As is the case with mystery religions or mystery cults in general, they are called “mysteries” because their ritual practices are/were cloaked in secrecy, known only to initiates. To this day the details of Eleusinian and Dionysian ceremonies remain to some extent mysterious.
