Does the Affordable Care Act prevent insurance companies from dropping the very sick and ill who need treatment the most?

Yes, before the Act, insurance companies could drop you from their plan, if you were diagnosed with a severe illness or you made a mistake on an application. The Act bans this practice, and allows people to keep their coverage, even as they are in the early stages of treatment, without fear of being dropped.
