Must I use a credit counselor in order to file for bankruptcy?

The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 requires that most people, with some exceptions, get credit counseling 180 days before they file for bankruptcy. A debtor’s education course is also required.
