What is a Certified Fund Specialist (CFS)?

A certified fund specialist accreditation means that the adviser is an expert in mutual funds and the mutual fund industry. They have studied, and are tested for their knowledge in, portfolio management, dollar cost averaging and annuities. If they have a license to buy and sell funds, they will also be able to purchase funds on behalf of clients. The Institute of Business and Finance oversees the accreditation of the CFS.
