What is a power of attorney?

It allows you to specifically grant the power to someone to act on your behalf in legal or financial matters. The power of attorney may be general or limited, for a definite or indefinite period of time. As long as you remain competent, you may change or end the power of attorney at any time. These powers of attorney are effective only as long as the principal is competent.
