Accountants and Tax Payers

What is a tax preparer?

A tax preparer is someone who, for a fee, may prepare your tax filings. They have had some sort of formal training, may have their own practice or work at some of the nationwide chains like H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt. They may have had formal training, some at a college or university, as well as experience working with tax matters, and may offer professional advice to you, and are fully capable of filing both federal and state and local taxes.
