What is an affinity card?

An affinity card is a credit card associated with a brand or service that the card member likes and provides rewards for using the card. Many brands, like airlines, hotel chains, and gas stations, offer credit cards that allow consumers to earn points, which are redeemable for products or services.

Many consumers never bother to check their credit card statements and just pay the bill. This is a mistake. Mistakes and erroneous charges do sometimes occur, and when they do you need to know about it so that you can dispute the charge with your credit card company. This is also a key clue to protecting against identity theft!
