What is probate court?

It is where the county administers an estate in the name of one person. Depending on the size of your estate, it can be classified as a “small estate,” and can be adjudicated by yourself, without an attorney, depending on where you live. Larger, more complex estates require more assistance, which an attorney can provide. A probate judge or clerk will then decide how the estate should be divided.
