Financial Planners and Investment Advisors

What is the difference between a financial planner and an investment adviser?

An investment adviser is able to offer advice on the many investment choices that are available to you, both from the company that he or she works for, as well as other choices outside the firm. A financial planner is a generalist that is experienced at looking at the big picture of your financial health, your entire portfolio, both assets and liabilities, and guide you on the proper choices that will allow you to reach your shortterm and long-term financial goals.
