You have to find out exactly what is wrong with your parent or parents, or other loved one for whom you are caring. By meeting with the doctors, and getting a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, you will be able to help them so that they can proceed on their own, if possible. If they are not able to proceed on their own, then you need to provide a higher level of care.
