Who said, “A penny saved is a penny earned”?

This quote is often attributed to Benjamin Franklin, but he never actually wrote this. In his Poor Richard’s Almanack, which he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Saunders, published from 1733 to 1758, Franklin actually said, “A penny saved is twopence dear.”
