Temperature and Its Measurement

How can temperature be controlled?

A device that maintains a constant temperature is called a thermostat. A traditional home thermostat contains a coiled bimetallic strip. When the temperature drops below a set point, the strip trips a switch that turns on the furnace. More modern home thermostats use an electronic thermometer and electronic circuits that turn the furnace and air conditioning system on and off.
