On what does the amplitude of a wave depend?

The amplitude of a rope wave depends on how hard you shake it. For a sound wave it depends on how much compression the loud speaker or musical instrument creates. In other words, it depends on the energy the source put into the wave. It does not depend on frequency, wavelength, or velocity.
