Ohm’s Law

What are the units and symbols used for current, voltage, and resistance?

Superconductors may be used in the near future to improve the efficiency of the transportation of electrical energy. Now some of that energy is lost to heating effects in the transmission lines. They may also be used to produce more efficient motors and generators. Technologies further into the future include the development of superconducting magnetic levitating trains.

Quantity Unit Symbol
Current (I) Ampere (amp) A
Voltage (V) Volt V
Resistance (R) Ohm Ω
