Momentum

What happens to the momentum of the ball and you and the chair all together?

As long as external forces are zero or small, then in any interaction the momentum of the system, in this case the ball, you, and the chair will be constant. This result is called the conservation of momentum. The sum of the decrease in momentum of the ball and the increase in momentum of you and the chair will be zero.
