After leaving the Ohio governorship, what did he do?

Hayes returned to the practice of law, opening an office at Sixth and Walnut Streets in Cincinnati. In 1873, his uncle Sidas deeded his estate Spiegel Grove in Frémont to Hayes and his family. Hayes moved to Frémont in part to be near his ailing uncle, who died in 1874.
