Obama accepted a position with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, a smaller firm specializing in civil rights law. Judson Miner, who had worked for Mayor Harold Washington, wanted Obama to come to the firm. Obama worked as an associate attorney for several years and then took an “of counsel” position.
