Did Eisenhower agree with Warren Court rulings? |
He disagreed with some of them, certainly. He did not agree with the Court’s historic decision in Brown v. Board of Education (1954). To his credit, however, he did use federal forces to enforce outright defiance of Court decisions. He wrote in his memoirs: “Like many political moderate conservatives, I felt that some Supreme Court justices were too often using their own interpretations of the law to remake American society according to their own social, political, and ideological precepts.”
