Did Johnson seek reelection?

Yes, Johnson ran for reelection at the Democratic National Convention in New York City in July 1868. Johnson never led on any of the ballots, finishing second to George Pendleton on the first ballot with sixty-five votes. Horatio Seymour became the party’s candidate as the support for Johnson diminished.
