Johnson’s tailor shop was very popular, as he was skilled at his craft. He liked to listen to political debates and was well read even though he had no formal education. He met his wife in Greeneville, and she helped him to increase his knowledge. Gradually, Johnson became more interested in politics and began to engage in political discussions.
