What book did Buchanan write during his retirement?

Buchanan wrote Mr. Buchanan’s Administration on the Eve of the Rebellion in 1866. The three-hundred-page book outlined the growing dispute between Northern and Southern states over the intractable problem of slavery. He explained that few too many leaders were willing to find a compromise to slavery and economic issues between the different regions of the country. He blamed the Republican party and anti-abolitionist agitation for the secession and subsequent Civil War.
