Ronald Wilson Reagan was born in Tampico, Illinois, to John Edward and Nelle Wilson Reagan on February 6, 1911.

John Edward Reagan worked a shoe salesman, a boot store operator, and a director of public works projects in Dixon, Illinois. He had some success with his boot store until the Great Depression forced him to close it.
