Elizabeth wanted Andrew to become a Presbyterian minister. She was a devout person and instilled in Andrew the need for regular church attendance. Every Sunday, she took Andrew to services that lasted three to four hours. Later in life, Jackson said that he read several chapters of the Bible each day.
