What happened to Arthur after leaving the White House?

Arthur suffered from Bright’s Disease, an ailment that attacks the kidneys. Consequently, Arthur spent his short post-presidency period suffering from this malady. He passed away on November 18, 1886, and was buried in New York City next to his wife, Ellen.
