What political vision did Tyler show as a U.S. representative?

Tyler followed a vision of states’ rights that followed in the tradition of Thomas Jefferson. He disagreed with some of the proposals brought forth by Henry Clay that gave more power to the federal government. For example, he opposed a bill that called for the creation of the Second National Bank.
