What significant land purchase occurred under Johnson’s presidency?

The United States acquired the territory of Alaska from Russia on April 9, 1867, for a little more than $7 million. Critics ridiculed the purchase as excessive and labeled it “Seward’s Folly” after Secretary of State William Seward. However, history showed that it was a very wise move by the government. President Johnson approved of the measure.
