What was Tyler’s first political position? |
Tyler won a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates in 1811 when he was only twenty-one years old. He won reelection four more times to the political body, which held annual elections. He left in 1821 after winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He also served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1823 to 1825 and from 1838 to 1840.
