What was his early education?

Grant learned at local schools in Georgetown, Ohio. At age fourteen, he entered the Maysville Seminary in Kentucky, and then the Presbyterian Academy in Ripley, Ohio. He graduated from this academy at age seventeen and then gained admittance to the U.S. Military Academy.
