At age sixty-eight, Harrison was the oldest president ever at the time of his inauguration, a record unbroken until Ronald Reagan was sworn in at the age of nearly seventy in 1989. Harrison also was the first president from the state of Ohio, though he wouldn’t be the last. Ohio has been called the “mother of presidents” because eight presidents were from the state, including: Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William Howard Taft, and Warren G. Harding.
