Political and Military Career

When was Jackson nominated for president?

The Tennessee legislature nominated Jackson for president in 1822. He was also elected to the U.S. Senate again in 1824. He lost a disputed election to John Quincy Adams even though Jackson garnered more popular and electoral votes. However, Jackson did not tally a majority of electoral votes, as there were multiple candidates. He then lost the election in the House of Representatives.
