Lawrence, Washington’s half brother, lived on his estate named Mount Vernon. Washington later inherited this estate in 1761, when Lawrence’s wife died. Mount Vernon not only became Washington’s home, but it remains a popular tourist attraction for those interested in the history of the United States.
