Charles Phelps Taft, William Howard Taft’s half-brother, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1895 to 1897. A graduate of Yale University and Columbia Law School, Charles Phelps Taft practiced law and then became owner of the newspaper The Cincinnati Times-Star.
