William Henry Harrison married Anna Tuthill Symmes on November 25, 1795. He married Anna against her father’s wishes. Her father was John Cleves Symmes, a lawyer, judge, and politician. He believed that Harrison did not have enough money and prominence for his daughter. William and Anna married while Mr. Symmes was out of town.
