Who was his wife?

At age twenty-three, he married Letitia Christian, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, on March 29, 1813. She died in 1842 during his presidency and, while still president, he married again, this time to actress Julia Gardiner Tyler in 1844. The second marriage caused controversy, as Tyler was thirty years older than Julia.
