Wilson appointed three men to the U.S. Supreme Court: James C. McReynolds, Louis D. Brandeis, and John H. Clarke. McReynolds, who was from Tennessee, previously had served as Wilson’s U.S. attorney general. He served nearly twenty-seven years on the Court. Brandeis, the Court’s first Jewish justice, served twenty-three years on the Court. He is considered one of the finest thinkers and writers of opinion to ever serve on the Court. Clark, a former federal district court judge from Ohio, served on the Court nearly six years.
