Why did Tyler decide to not seek reelection in December 1820?

Tyler became frustrated because he often was in the minority, as Congress passed limitations on slavery in the Compromise of 1820 and supported the national bank. He also suffered an unknown stomach illness in 1819 that persisted well beyond the election.
