With whom did Jefferson clash as secretary of state?

Jefferson served as President George Washington’s secretary of state. During that time, he often clashed with the secretary of the treasury, Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton favored a strong central government, a national bank, and federal taxes. Jefferson favored a limited federal government, opposed the national bank, and generally opposed the expansion of federal power. More often than not, Washington took Hamilton’s advice on such matters.
