What is The Lord’s Prayer? |
The Lord’s Prayer, or the “Our Father,” is found in the gospels of Matthew (6:9-13) and Luke (11:2-4). Both gospels position the Lord’s prayer as Jesus’ response to his disciples’ request to teach them how to pray. Based on linguistic studies, most biblical scholars today agree that this prayer likely came from Jesus’ own lips, and virtually all Christians acknowledge it as a prime example of prayer:
