How much fluid do the kidneys remove from the blood? |
The kidneys filter about 48 gallons (182 liters) of blood daily and produce about 4 ounces of filtrate per minute. About 1.5 to 2 quarts (1.4 to 1.9 liters) of urine is eventually excreted per day. The entire blood supply is filtered through the kidneys 60 times per day. The kidneys in a person living 73 years filter almost 1.3 million gallons of blood.
