The average female is 5 feet, 3.75 inches (1.62 meters) tall and weighs 152 pounds (69.09 kilograms). The average male is 5 feet, 9 inches (1.75 meters) tall and weighs 180 pounds (81.82 kilograms). Between 1960 and 2000 the average American male became 2 inches (5 centimeters) taller and 45 pounds (20.45 kilograms) heavier, while the average American woman also grew 2 inches (5 centimeters) taller and gained 18 pounds (8.18 kilogram).
