Is it harmful to crack one’s knuckles?

A study of 300 knuckle crackers found no apparent connection between joint cracking and arthritis. Other damage was observed, including soft tissue damage to the joint capsule and a decrease in grip strength. The rapid, repeated stretching of the ligaments surrounding the joint is most likely the cause of damage to the soft tissue.
