Plant Diversity

What factors have contributed to the success of seed plants?

Seed plants do not require water for sperm to swim to an egg during reproduction. Pollen and seeds have allowed them to grow in almost all terrestrial habitats. The sperm of seed plants is carried to eggs in pollen grains by the wind or animal pollinators such as insects. Seeds are fertilized eggs that are protected by a seed coat until conditions are proper for germination and growth.
