What is reflexology?

Reflexology is the application of specific pressures to reflex points in the hands and feet. The reflex points relate to every organ and every part of the body. Massaging of the reflex points is done to prevent or cure diseases. Believed to have been used in Asian cultures as long as 2,000 years ago, reflexology was introduced to the United States at the turn of the century by Dr. William Fitzgerald (1872–1942) and Eunice D. Ingham (1889–1974). Today nearly 25,000 certified practitioners can be found throughout the world.
