Recycling and Conservation

What is the environmental impact of disposing electronics in landfills?

The EPA believes that the disposal of electronics in properly managed municipal solid waste landfills does not threaten human health and the environment. However, recycling electronics will decrease the demand for additional mining of valuable resources and manufacturing new products. Recycling electronics recovers valuable materials, such as copper and engineered plastics, and as a result reduces greenhouse gas emissions, pollution, saves energy, and saves resources by extracting fewer raw materials from the earth.
