What is the origin of the term “hurricane”?

The term “hurricane” is derived from “Hurican,” the Carib god of evil, which was derived from the Mayan god “Hurakan.” Hurakan was one of the Mayan creator gods, who blew his breath across the chaotic water and brought forth dry land.
